The Cross River State Signage and Advertisement Agency (CRISSAA) has fixed N150 million as the tariff for outdoor campaign advertisements by presidential candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.Under the new rates, governorship candidates are required to pay N100 million, senatorial candidates N50 million, House of Representatives candidates N25 million, and State House of Assembly candidates N5 million.Director-General of CRISSAA, Ubong Sam, announced the tariffs during an interactive session with members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Calabar.Sam also directed political parties and candidates to remove their campaign billboards and other advertising materials within 30 days after the announcement of election results. He described the charges as moderate compared with those in neighbouring states and insisted that the agency remains impartial in its dealings with all parties and candidates.According to him, the measures were introduced to properly regulate advertising spaces and ensure fairness. He warned that defaulters risk having their materials removed, paying fines, or facing prosecution before the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), noting that ARCON fines are not less than N1 million.IPAC state chairman Engr. Effiom Edet supported the tariffs, describing them as fair, while the Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Nkoyo Otu, assured stakeholders of transparency. However, some parties rejected the fees. The state chairman of the Action Democratic Party and the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) described the charges as outrageous and exorbitant. PDP spokesman Mike Ojisi said the tariffs appeared designed to shut out less financially buoyant parties from effective billboard publicity and insisted they were unacceptable.
