Tenant Bites Off Landlord’s Lip over house rent In Lagos

26- year old woman Chinyere Umebionyo has been arrested and arraigned before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly biting off the lip of her landlord Augustine Nkwazema, in Lagos State, western Nigeria.

Anambra State-born Chinyere became angry when she returned from work and saw that her door had been removed by the landlord.

The incident happened at Olarenwaju street, Ejigbo, Lagos where they both reside.She reportedly grabbed Augustine and bit off his lip.

Nkwazema was taken to a hospital where his lip was stitched. Chinyere explained that Nkwazema removed the door to her apartment while she was at work because she could not pay the balance of N2,400 she owed him as rent.

She explained that she had previous pleaded with him to give more time to enable her raise the money.

The assault was reported at the Ejigbo Police Division and Chinyere was arrested and charged to court. When she was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs M. B. Folami granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail, the matter was adjourned
