The graduate school of the American University of Nigeria is accepting applications for its Executive Masters programmes in IT and Telecommunications/Wireless kicking off on May 26, 2013.

The six-week programmes typically begin in the last week of May and run for two summers, after which students passing all 10 required modules of a programme are permitted to complete and defend a thesis project to fulfill the requirements for a Master’s degree

They are carefully designed to offer busy professionals an opportunity to earn advanced degrees in their respective fields without incurring any major impact on their work schedule.

“Telecommunications and information technology have become key drivers for businesses the world over,” said Prof. Mathias Fonkam, Dean of the School of Information Technology and Computing. “This has a special relevance for developing and emerging economies.

Our programmes are designed to help organizations and businesses in Sub-Sahara Africa leverage technology to improve on their processes and keep pace with developments in order to compete in a more level playing field.”

AUN students receive training from world-renowned professionals, including the SITC faculty and visiting professors from the US and Europe.

The initial class of 2012 included highly motivated industry professionals from Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Kano.

A number of Nigerian companies and institutions were represented, including Nent Limited, Web Fontaine Group, MTN Nigeria, Power Holding Company of Nigeria, the University of Jos, and the Nigeria Customs Service.

“We encourage professionals to take advantage of these unique Executive Masters programs,” continued Dean Fonkam. “This year we are implementing state-of-the-art labs to aid practical training. We have also added more world-class faculty members and technical lab personnel. Spots are limited so we encourage prospective students to apply early.”
