Witchcraft Practices Rocks Asaba

Asaba, the capital of Delta State, is currently alleged to be awash with the activities of witches.

In the last three weeks, screams and sobs over the strange deaths of young boys/girls in their prime have enveloped various quarters of the city, leaving many dwellers fearing for their lives.

LEADERSHIP Friday reliably gathered that more than 18 teenagers have died under mysterious circumstances. The commonest form is death while sleeping.

Besides these strange deaths, broken homes are reportedly on the increase over alleged failed genital organs, after endless treatments at various herbal homes came to nothing.

Recently, a couple who lived in Otougu Quarters, Asaba, seperated after 10 years of marriage without the fruit of the womb. Insiders said that the separation had to do with the failing of the man’s organ. The woman, unable to endure the shame, walked out on the marriage.

Though unconfirmed sources revealed that many men who have had such experiences have allegedly resolved to allow their wives to have fun outside their matrimonial homes, a community leader who did not want his name in print averred that such cases could lead to the crime of patricide, if children were born in the long run.

LEADERSHIP Friday checks revealed that strange illnesses such as swollen legs, rashes and protruding stomachs are presently common among young people in the area, and that though many have had to spend huge amounts of money in the battle for their lives, they died in the end.

Last Thursday, two women around Osadenis Quarters, allegedly confessed to being witches, adding that they operate “regional coven of witches in Agbor,” where they resolved to cause teenagers to die strange deaths, especially in their asleep.

It was gathered that during their alleged confession, their relations waded in and took them away.

Around Ogbeosowe, another woman, who was said to have been married to a title-holder who later died reportedly confessed to have killed her first son after the death of the husband in her coven, for not allowing her access to rent collections in several houses which her late husband left behind.”

Further investigations revealed that when night falls, cats of different colours and owls are seen crying aloud at nooks and crannies.
