FG Upgrades Akure Medical Sciences Hospital to Federal Teaching Hospital
The federal government has officially converted the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital into the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Akure, Ondo State. The milestone was marked by the unveiling, handover, and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the transfer, witnessed by Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, representing President Bola Tinubu.Prof. Pate praised the Ondo State Government, led by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for their collaboration in ensuring a smooth transition, describing it as a model of federal-state partnership to advance Nigeria’s health objectives. He emphasized President Tinubu’s commitment to improving healthcare access and quality nationwide, noting that the new teaching hospital will enhance medical education, research, and specialist care.The Deji of Akure, His Royal Majesty Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, commended President Tinubu for fulfilling his promise to upgrade the hospital, expressing gratitude for the transformative impact on Akure. In recognition of his efforts, Prof. Pate was conferred with the chieftaincy title “Okoredeola of Akure Kingdom” by the Deji of Akure.
