Lagos Authorities Arrests Two Suspects for Dumping Refuse on Lagos Highway
The Lagos State Government has taken a firm stance against environmental offenders, arresting two men for allegedly dumping refuse along the Ikorodu-Itowolo highway. The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on X , on Wednesday, June 11.He revealed the suspects were arrested and transferred to the Lagos state Environmental and Special Offences Task Force office, and the vehicles used to commit the illegal act have been impounded at the LAWMA office. He mentioned that the suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as possible.‘’In the early hours of Wednesday, 11th June 2025, officers of the Monitoring and Compliance Department of LAWMA apprehended individuals found illegally dumping refuse by the roadside along the Ikorodu–Itowolo highway.The culprits were immediately arrested and transferred to the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Task Force office in Oshodi for further processing. The vehicle used in the illegal activity was impounded and is currently secured at LAWMA Ogudu office.Both offenders have been handed over to the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps for prosecution in line with the provisions of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017.''
