In a shocking discovery, Thai authorities rescued an 8-year-old boy who was found living in deplorable conditions with a pack of dogs in a remote hut in Uttaradit province, northern Thailand. The child, who had been abandoned by his drug-addicted family, was unable to speak and could only communicate by barking.Police conducted a joint raid on June 30, following a tip-off from a local school principal, who alerted children's rights activist Paveena Hongsakul. The boy was found living in a dilapidated stilt house with his 46-year-old mother and 23-year-old brother, both of whom tested positive for drug use.The child had been deprived of formal education and meaningful human interaction, leading to his isolation and unusual behavior.The boy had learned to bark like the family's dogs, which were his only companions, and had lost the ability to speak. Neighbors reported that the mother would often beg for food and money, and the family's erratic behavior had led to the boy being ostracized by the community.The boy has been removed from the home and placed in protective custody at Uttaradit’s Children’s Home.Paveena, who is overseeing his welfare, has assured that the boy will be given a chance to rebuild his life and receive the care and support he needs.
