Capital scenes: London's third lockdown – in pictures


Photographer Jill Mead has been capturing scenes on the streets of London during the latest lockdown.

‘Winter’s third lockdown has been defined by a binge watch of It’s a Sin and night walks. My mood mainly reflected in shooting security guards, like sitting ducks in vast empty buildings. It felt hard to eke out the resilience and moments of joy but they were there: a chap spontaneously starting to dance, a drag queen whirling like a tornado through Soho, and none more so than two friends simply holding hands. It’s been emotional and my heart melted as tiny snowmen hardly outlived a day. I’m so ready for waves to be for loved ones from trains, sneaky ones that soak you unaware or Mexican ones at cricket matches’
