Simon Jordan believes Arsenal and Tottenham are both unworthy of finishing fourth in the Premier League this season

Antonio Conte‘s side only need a draw against rock-bottom Norwich to finish fourth after a late-season capitulation from the Gunners.

Two defeats in five days for Mikel Arteta’s men have seen their four-point lead over Spurs vanish – and now they are hoping for a miracle.

But despite both clubs enjoying improved campaigns compared to last season, Jordan has been left unimpressed by the north London duo.

“The fourth and fifth spot in the league this year is based upon two sides that aren’t good enough really to be in the top four under a normal regime of what a top four looks like,” Jordan told talkSPORT.

“But because of the composition of the league this year, that’s why it’s been up and down.

“It wasn’t so long ago we were talking about Tottenham, we know what we’re going to get. Tottenham are gonna win, they’re gonna lose, they’re gonna win, they’re gonna lose.”

Since the appointment of Conte in November 2021, Tottenham have slowly built momentum, winning 10 of their last 15 league games including victories at Manchester City and Aston Villa and a creditable draw against Liverpool at Anfield.

Arguably the most important victory came in last Thursday’s north London derby when Tottenham swept aside Arsenal 3-0, to take the upper hand in the race for fourth place.

But Jordan was quick to remind everybody that the season hasn’t been as fruitful for Spurs as the table suggests.

“All of a sudden they’ve hit a vein of form because Conte has a substance, but it wasn’t so long ago we were talking about Conte having some hissy fit two or three months ago, being a temperamental Italian because he couldn’t get what he wanted from the team,” Jordan added.

If Spurs were to lose at Carrow Road, Arsenal could sneak into fourth place with a win over Everton at the Emirates Stadium.

But a draw for Spurs should still be enough due to the Gunners needing a 15-goal swing to overhaul their rivals.
