Arsenal fans were outraged after watching Rodri’s high boot on Kieran Tierney just days after a savage challenge on Martin Odegaard.

The Manchester City star started both Spain matches against Norway and Scotland in the latest round of Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Tierney was left crocked by Rodri’s challenge

The Tartan Army landed an incredible win over the 2010 World Cup champions, winning 2-0 thanks to two goals from Manchester United’s Scott McTominay.

But sections of Arsenal’s support were left seething when they saw Tierney hit the deck following a high boot from Rodri – just days after a wincing challenge on another Gunners star Odegaard.

Rodri controlled a high ball on his chest and as it came down, both players went for it but Tierney came off second-best when the Spanish midfielder’s boot clattered the underside of the Scotsman’s foot.

It left the left-back crocked in pain and he eventually had to come off, though he did watch the rest of the match rather than descend down the tunnel in a positive sign.

And Arsenal fans are fuming with the City star, with one saying: “Rodri really tried to take out Odegaard and Tierney back to back.”

Another wrote: “Rodri has to be the biggest and petty loser I’ve ever seen, made a needless and reckless tackle on Odegaard the other day, targeted Tierney again today.. You can’t tell me it’s a coincidence.”

A third posted: “City are playing dark games, Rodri has sent Tierney to injury again.”

And this fan put: “Rodri really tried to take out Odegaard and Tierney back to back.”

While a fifth said: “Rodri tried to injure Odegaard and now Tierney? That’s not very nice.”

Rodri’s challenge comes just days after a brutal tackle on Odegaard when Spain met Norway on Saturday with the former Atletico Madrid star steaming through the playmaker in the box.

Somehow, a penalty was not awarded while many remarked how the Arsenal ace was lucky not to have suffered a serious injury.

With weeks left in the Premier League title race, the Gunners are leading City by eight points and a game in hand and many reckon Mikel Arteta’s men will now go all the way.

Odegaard has been a huge part of Arsenal’s success this season, starring in a creative midfield role behind the forward three.

In 27 Premier League appearances, the Norwegian has 10 goals and six assists while Tierney has had to contend with a back-up role behind Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Scottish defender has been linked with an exit from the Emirates this summer after falling down the pecking order, with Newcastle among the interested parties.
