Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal can take advantage of the lack of a ‘super dominating team’ and claim their first Premier League title since 2004.
Arsenal have been in blistering form so far this season, winning six of their seven games, with the only blemish coming in a 3-1 defeat at Manchester United earlier in September.
Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City are in second – one point behind the Gunners, while Arsenal’s next opponents Tottenham, occupy third place.
The legendary former Arsenal boss believes the mid-season break – due to the World Cup – could help his former side in their quest to land the title, whilst hinting that Pep Guardiola’s side are not the force they have shown to be in recent seasons.
“I would say they have a good chance this season because I don’t see any super dominating team,” Wenger told Sky Sports. “I believe that it is a good opportunity to do it this season.
“Of course, it’s a little bit of a special season as well because you have the World Cup in the middle and you don’t know how much that will affect the performances of the individual players and of the teams. Overall, I believe there is a good opportunity there this season.”
Despite Arsenal taking on the crown of early-season pacesetters, boss Mikel Arteta refused to be drawn into any title talk following their convincing 3-0 win at Brentford last time out.
Arteta said: “You can ask me every day. Today we are top of the league, I am so happy.

“Yesterday, I was so annoyed because we lost it [against Manchester United] and we used that today as we want to get back there and show that we want to be there and that’s what we’re going to do.
“Push to be the best that we can be and that’s the aim and then the table won’t lie after 38 games.”
The return from the international break provides the Gunners with a true test of their title credentials when Tottenham and Liverpool visit the Emirates Stadium in consecutive weeks and tricky-looking trips to Leeds, Wolves and Chelsea all to come before the World Cup kicks off in November.
