Aston Villa are eyeing Norwich star Todd Cantwell as a possible replacement for Manchester City target Jack Grealish, reports claim.

City are reportedly expected to accept a record-breaking £100million bid from City for Grealish.

On Saturday, Villa announced they had agreed a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, subject to a medical and finalising personal terms.

And Cantwell could be the next big arrival at Villa Park if Grealish leaves, according to The Express.

The report adds Villa will ‘test Norwich’s resolve’ for the 23-year-old midfielder.

Villa have already raided the Canaries by signing Emiliano Buendia for a club-record £33m fee earlier this summer.

And Cantwell, who has just one year left on his contract, could follow his former Norwich teammate to the Midlands.

With Grealish looking set to join City, a new attacking trio of Cantwell and Buendia with Ollie Watkins up front could trouble many Premier League defenders.

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara insists Grealish will still be a Villa legend if he quits the club this summer.

He told talkSPORT: “If Jack Grealish leaves tomorrow and goes to Man City, he’s still going to be an Aston Villa legend.

“He has to go to Man City because he will guarantee himself trophies. He will win the Premier League, he will win the FA Cup, the League Cup and he will probably win the Champions League as well.

“It’s only a matter of time before Man City do eventually get it over the line, and I think if you’re signing players like Jack Grealish and they’re talking about Harry Kane, too, they’ll win a Champions League.

“Jack is not going to do that at Aston Villa. As much as Aston Villa are going out and signing players and are going in the right direction, and they are a huge football club, they’re still ten years behind where Man City are right now.

“In ten years’ time, Jack Grealish probably won’t be a footballer, he’ll be at the end of his career, so he needs to go to a club now, like Man City, who are going to offer him a huge contract and will guarantee him success and trophies.

“So when he does retire he looks back, he can say, ‘I played at the top level and won everything.’”
