Tottenham could re-sign Christian Eriksen on loan in a stunning January transfer, reports claim.

Eriksen, the Denmark playmaker, left Spurs this time last year for Inter Milan after seven years in north London during which time he established himself as one of the finest creators in European football.

However, he’s struggled in Italy, starting only six games this season and failing to score or assist a single goal for Antonio Conte’s side since last July.

A January exit has been mooted over the past few weeks, with Tottenham’s fierce local rivals Arsenal said to be keen on signing Eriksen this month.

However, Spurs themselves have now shown their interest in re-signing their former player with Jose Mourinho keen on a loan deal.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports on Tottenham’s interest in Eriksen, although he claims no advanced talks have yet begun and says the playmaker’s salary could be a big issue in any deal being concluded.

Eriksen first joined Spurs in 2013 from Ajax and ended up making 305 appearances for the north Londoners, scoring 69 goals.

He was a key figure under Mauricio Pochettino and played an important role in Tottenham’s Premier League title challenges and run to the Champions League final in 2019.
