Cristiano Ronaldo’s history at Manchester United would ‘count for nothing’ if he joined arch-rivals Man City.

That’s the view of talkSPORT host, and huge Red Devils fan, Andy Goldstein amid reports that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner could join the blue half of Manchester.

Reports suggest Ronaldo is keen to leave Juventus with just one year remaining on his contract, but the Serie A side want a fee of around £25million.

City had been pursuing Harry Kane, but the Tottenham striker posted on social media he would not be going anywhere… for the time being.

Ronaldo could be one option for Pep Guardiola’s side, who are looking to replace Sergio Aguero.

If the Portugal superstar were to join City, the news would unlikely go down well with United fans.

In six seasons at Old Trafford, he scored 118 goals and helped them win three Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Goldstein said on talkSPORT Drive: “I would be absolutely heartbroken (if Ronaldo joined City). I know I’m going extreme here, but genuinely if Ronaldo went to City, I think he’d be dead to me.

“I’d just look at Ronaldo, as much as I adored him for what he did for my club, it would count for nothing.

“His history at United, in my mind, would be wiped.

“The relationship in my mind that Ferguson has with Ronaldo, there’s that father son thing going on there. They’ve got mutual respect.

“The fact I’ve heard Ronaldo talk about his love for Manchester United and wants to go back there one day…

“He shouldn’t want to go there. It’s like someone phoning me up and asking if I want to go to Magic FM. I’m not going, I’m talkSPORT.

“There’s just things you don’t do when you are an absolute superstar and idolised.

“Prime example – Cantona. Eric Cantona would never in a million years have gone to City. It wouldn’t have happened as he’s better than that.

“Ronaldo shouldn’t do it. It shouldn’t even be in his thought process.”
