Harry Redknapp has backed John Terry as the ideal candidate to become the next Bournemouth manager.
The Cherries sacked Jason Tindall on Wednesday following a run of four straight Championship defeats.
Redknapp, who managed the club between 1983 and 1992, thinks former Chelsea and England defender Terry, now assistant at Aston Villa, is well suited.
“Well I think John would be a fantastic manager, I’ve said it from when I first really got to know him and saw how professional he was,” Redknapp told talkSPORT.
“Even just being around him at different things I’ve done like charity games, I managed a game at Old Trafford one day when John played.
“His professionalism and just everything about him I just think given the opportunity he could be a really top class manager.
“If I was a chairman looking for a manager now, John Terry would be top of my list.
“He’s at Aston Villa but he may not be interested. I wouldn’t know what his long-term ambitions are but I’m sure he would want to get into management.
“If you want to get into management, I couldn’t think of a better club than Bournemouth. It really is a good, well run club, good players. It’s all there for somebody to come in and make a big success of it.”
Redknapp has a long association with Bournemouth having played more than 100 times for the club before managing them for nine years.
The 73-year-old believes the club have a good enough squad to still win promotion this season.
“I’m disappointed for Jason,” Redknapp added. “He was here with Eddie and played a major part in taking the club to where they went, right through the league to the Premier League.
“It was a blow when Eddie left and then Jason took over. Unfortunately, it’s a results business and the last few results have been disappointing.
“They’ve got a great squad and Jason is a great coach but unfortunately results haven’t gone Jason’s way recently.
“They have got a good squad of players at Bournemouth and I think they are capable of getting out of the division.”
