Harvey Elliott has already endeared himself to Liverpool fans this week, but his latest comments might just earn him Freedom of the City.
The 18-year-old recently underwent successful surgery on a brutal ankle dislocation during the Reds’ 3-0 victory at Leeds on Sunday.
From giving a fan his shirt in hospital and watching the closing moments of the match on his phone from his bed, to defending the red-card tackle from Pascal Struijk – the Englishman has responded brilliantly to the setback.
But it’s his response to a Manchester United fan on social media which may prove most popular among the Reds faithful.
Commenting on a supportive TikTok video from a Liverpool fan, one Red Devils supporter wrote: “He’s not walking like that anymore.”
And upon seeing the comment, Elliott wrote back: “Crazy though how I have more legs than United have trophies in the past eight years.”
He didn’t stop there, either.
United fans were quick to point out their totally unforgettable Community Shield triumph in 2016.
Responding to that on Instagram, Elliott said: “I’m not worrying bro McDonald’s trophy anyway.”
He then added: “6 Champions Leagues.”
Even the United fan who originally tried to mock Elliott could not deny a clear victory for the talented teenager.
He wrote back: “Haha, fair enough. You’re a baller.”
