Kane has followed in the footsteps of the Manchester United legend with the pair attending the same secondary school along with playing for the same Sunday League side.

And the Tottenham striker, who first met Beckham in 2005, was quick to get the former midfielder’s thoughts on the current crop of England stars.

He told England’s YouTube channel: “Becks went to my secondary school, Chingford Foundation.

“We both played for Ridgeway Rovers, our Sunday league team. He was my biggest idol when I was growing up.

“He was here the other day. We had a good chat. He was one of the best captains we ever had.

“I didn’t just ask questions about games or how he felt, it was more just getting to know his experiences, how he feels about our team, what he sees in our team.

“We had a chat about loads of things. He’s really excited for the national side. He loves watching us play.

“It’s great to have support from ex-players. They know how much it means to represent your country. They’re all part of the team.”

Meanwhile Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka was left starstruck by meeting Beckham, as he nervously asked the 47-year-old for a picture.

With Beckham in conversation with ex-teammate Gareth Southgate and Jack Grealish, Saka approached the six-time Premier League winner with some trepidation.

Saka said: “Sorry to interrupt, but can I have a picture with you?”

Beckham, who has no official affiliation with the England team, was invited to visit then team by Southgate.

He was already out in the Gulf nation due to being an ambassador for the global tournament.

Next up for England is a mammoth test as they meet reigning World Cup winners France in the quarter-finals on Saturday, live on talkSPORT.

On France, Kane said: “We’re facing a really good team on Saturday. But the boys are feeling really good and we want to carry that on.”

Kane added: “To win a World Cup, you’re going to have to play the best sides and France are definitely one of those. We have belief.

“We know what to expect, we are not getting carried away but we know it’s a chance to play in a World Cup semi-final.”
