Tottenham star Heung-min Son has apologised to Antonio Conte after he parted company with the club.

The Italian left Spurs just over a week after his explosive rant about the club following their 3-3 draw against Southampton.

Conte took charge in November 2021 and guided them to a top four finish ahead of arch-rivals Arsenal last season.

However, they are set to end the campaign without silverware once again, with fans being left unimpressed with his style of play.

Spurs players have remained silent since Conte’s departure on Sunday night, but Son is the first to speak on his now former boss.

“I’m very sorry to him,” he said whilst on international duty with South Korea.

“He is a world-class manager, we had a great journey together, I thank him a lot. I do not know how other players are thinking about him, but I’m sorry to him.

“I should have shown more but I couldn’t. I couldn’t help the team and I feel responsible as he left the club.”

Son flourished under Conte last season as he scored 20 goals in all competitions, including the first of the Italian’s tenure.

However, his performances have significantly dipped this time round as he sits on just ten goals.

Cristian Stellini is now acting as the club’s head coach, with Ryan Mason staying as an assistant.

Spurs are seeking their fourth permanent manager since Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019.

Ex-Bayern Munich manager Julien Nagelsmann has been sounded out by chairman Daniel Levy about the vacancy.

Former boss Pochettino is a huge favourite amongst the fanbase, but the hierarchy are said to be split over bringing him back to the club.
