It has been a season to forget for Arsenal, who were knocked out of the Europa League by their former manager Unai Emery last week.

It means Arsenal are on course to play a season without European football for the first time in 25 years – all the way back when Bruce Rioch was manager.

Come the start of the 2021/22 season, Chelsea could be the Kings of Europe, while Arsenal will be getting ready to play in the second round of the League Cup.

Over the last 10 years, Chelsea have proved that London is blue in terms of trophies won – just have a look at this…

Major honours won since 2011

Arsenal

FA Cup: 2013/14, 2014/15, 2016/17, 2019/20

Chelsea

FA Cup: 2011/12, 2017/18

League Cup: 2014/15

Champions League: 2011/12

Premier League: 2014/15, 2016/17

Europa League: 2012/13, 2018/19

Two Premier League titles, two Europa League trophies, a Champions League trophy, two FA Cups and one League Cup sit in the Stamford Bridge cabinets.

Arsenal have dominated the FA Cup in that time, though, with four triumphs in the competitions under Arsene Wenger (3) and Mikel Arteta (1).

In fact, the Gunners have had Chelsea’s number in recent times, at least in terms of head-to-head on the pitch.

Arteta’s men won their 14th FA Cup by beating the Blues 1-0 in last year’s final and put three goals past them in the Premier League earlier this season.

The Gunners inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Chelsea last December in what turned out to be the latter stages of Frank Lampard’s reign.

The former Blues midfielder was sacked four games later with Thomas Tuchel replacing him in the Stamford Bridge hot seat in January.

Since Tuchel’s arrival, however, Chelsea have gone from strength to strength by regaining their top-four spot and being on the cusp of winning two trophies.

The Blues face Leicester in the FA Cup final on Saturday, which is LIVE on talkSPORT from 5.15pm, before taking on Man City in the Champions League final two weeks later.

But before that, Chelsea will look to tighten their grip on a top-four spot when they host Arsenal on Wednesday.

The pressure is mounting on Arsenal boss Arteta, who will be aiming to end a disappointing season strongly.
