Manchester United star Luke Shaw has been tipped for England’s Euro 2020 squad this summer – ahead of Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell.

The left-back has enjoyed a revival this season as the Red Devils mount a title tilt in a chaotic Premier League season.

Shaw, 25, has impressed in attacking phases of United’s play under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, while also putting up excellent numbers defensively too as his side look set for an impressive campaign.

Now, paired with a down turn in form for Chilwell, who looked set to be a shoo-in for England boss Gareth Southgate in the position at the summer’s European Championship, he’s being linked with a return to the international fold.

The Red Devils ace, who has eight caps, last started a Three Lions game back in September 2018, and his penultimate one was exactly three years prior to that in September 2015.

And Trevor Sinclair, who represented England 12 times – four at the 2002 World Cup, has backed Shaw to get the nod after his stunning progress.

“I’ve been a big fan of his this season,” he told talkSPORT. “I think he’s been exceptional and actually, the last game against Sheffield United [Alex] Telles played instead of him and I thought it was a big mistake by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer because he’s been great.

“He’s come round, he looks fitter. People talk about his body shape. It doesn’t matter what shape he is if he’s getting the distances in and he’s fit. I think he’s a great player.

“I fancy him for the England squad in the Euros, I’ve got to be honest, because I actually feel he’s doing better than Ben Chilwell.”
