Manchester United could have new owners at the club within the next 24 months, according to football agent Jon Smith.

The Red Devils are the talk of the football world following their horrendous start to the new season in which they have lost to both Brighton and Brentford, with the latter seeing them off with a 4-0 hammering.

Unfortunately for United fans, the problems at the club run far deeper than just two poor results.

Supporters are angry and upset with the club’s current owners, the Glazer family, whom they believe are bleeding the club dry through huge debts, poor strategic appointments through the club’s hierarchy and a lack of investment both on and off the field.

As a result, fans are plotting a mass boycott of Monday’s clash with rivals Liverpool, with #EmptyOldTrafford trending around the world in recent days.

However, in a piece of good news for those supporters, Smith told Ade Oladipo that he thinks that there could be light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaking on The Transfer Social, Smith said: “Manchester United, I believe, will be sold within the next 24 months.

“There are people circling.

The Glazer family, who have been associated with Man United since 2003, could sell up in the next 24 months, says Smith

“The fact of the matter is that there are six siblings who are currently in the ownership, that’s a big number to get everyone to walk out in a straight line together, so it may or may not [happen].

“I just get the feeling from the people over there that it they get a sentiment that it may be an option.

“Here’s another addendum to that. Who knows what the Chelsea takeover cost, £2billion a change? A lot of the £3billion to £4billion was loan paybacks and various other things that were bolted on, but it was probably £2.5billion, heading towards £3billion, which kind of rerates Arsenal and Liverpool and the others.

“On a global income basis, nothing touches Manchester United, they’re in a league of their own.”
