N’Golo Kante was back in a Chelsea shirt after taking part in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Charlton on Friday.

The midfielder has been sidelined since August following a hamstring injury that he picked up in the Premier League draw with Tottenham.

With the 31-year-old desperate for game time as he steps up his recovery, he was involved in the exhibition match with the Addicks.

In a real boost for Graham Potter’s side, Kante lasted 60 minutes against the League One side and came through completely unscathed.

It was also a positive afternoon for the Blues as they secured a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Silko Thomas, Malik Mothersille and Dion Rankine.

The return of Kante will certainly be a big boost to Graham Potter and his side.

Chelsea have at least 13 fixtures remaining this season, including 11 in the Premier League and two clashes with Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter finals.

With games coming thick and fast, the Blues will really benefit from having a player of the quality and experience of the France international.

He may have struggled to make an impact this term, but the hope is that he’ll be able to play his part in the coming weeks.
