Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Arsenal career could soon be coming to an end, with Barcelona and Juventus both making ‘official approaches’ for the exiled striker, according to reports.

After being stripped of the captaincy and excluded from the first team squad, the Gunners forward was always unlikely to be a part of Mikel Arteta’s plans again, and could be set for a new adventure in either Spain or Italy.

The Athletic have reported that both the Serie A and LaLiga giants are keen on bringing in the 32-year-old until the end of the season.

Aubameyang is also keen on the move to either Juve or Barca as he will still be given the chance to play at the highest level.

With only a few days left of the January transfer window, Arsenal and either club will need to act swiftly to get the deal done.

The Times also state Arsenal would need to sign a forward before sanctioning a move, having recently been linked with an interested in Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak, and Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Speaking on talkSPORT, football correspondent Alex Crook joined the Weekend Sports Breakfast to report the latest on the deal.

“The interest is certainly real, but this is going to be a complicated deal to do,” he said.

“He’s Arsenal’s top earner with wages of around £350,000 a week and, if he was to go on loan in Europe, Arsenal would have to pick up a significant percentage of that.

“Barcelona are still chasing other striker targets as well, and they need to get rid of Ousmane Dembele to free up a place on the payroll for Aubameyang.

“If this is going to happen, I think this will be one that goes late into the day on Monday.”

Arteta has been urged to bring Aubameyang back into the first-team fold, having been left out of the squad that travelled to Dubai for a winter training camp.

Invincibles legend Ray Parlour is among those to back the striker to fight his way back into the team, but talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino believes there is no way back for Aubameyang at Arsenal as he has lost the trust of his manager.

“It’s a tough one for Arsenal,” the former Chelsea striker added.

“Obviously Arteta has lost complete faith and trust in him.

“It’s gone way beyond him coming back late from being away, it feels like it’s got a bit personal between the two of them and their relationship has broken down.”

Reports claim talks are ongoing with Arsenal and both Barcelona and Juventus over the distribution of Aubameyang’s £350,000 salary for the final four months of the campaign.

It’s also said neither club are concerned about his professionalism, despite the sour end to his stay at the Emirates Stadium.
