Former Tottenham star Jamie Redknapp has hit out at Cristian Romero as he declared the defender is ‘letting his teammates down’.
The Spurs centre-back was at fault for two of Liverpool’s goals in their enthralling 4-3 win over the north Londoners at Anfield on Sunday.

Ryan Mason’s side found themselves 3-0 down inside the opening 15 minutes, with Curtis Jones, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah all on target.
Tottenham then fought back to get themselves back on level terms in second half stoppage time, before Diogo Jota fired home a 94th minute winner – which saw Jurgen Klopp pull his hamstring as he celebrated the dramatic finish.
Romero has been blamed for being at fault for Diaz’s opener after failing to close him down, before bringing down Cody Gakpo for Salah’s spot-kick.
And ex-Spurs skipper Redknapp has hit out at the Argentine World Cup winner, insisting he seems focussed on ‘trying to look good’.
Speaking on Sky Sports following the match, he said: “When he first got in the team, I thought he looked very calm and composed.
“But something has just triggered in his mind, he’s trying to win every ball, he goes running into areas.

“And what you have to remember, when you’re going to be like that, when you’re going to be as rash, you make it incredibly difficult for the players alongside you.
“Because they have no idea what you’re going to do as a defender, and that’s when you look at good defenders.
“Good defensive partnerships, they understand each other.”
Interjecting, Liverpool legend Graeme Souness, who came through Spurs’ academy, remarked: “Good defenders stay on their feet – they’re anticipating.

“When you see someone regularly going to ground, it’s because they’re not reading the game.”
Having the final say, Redknapp then stated: “He’s not thinking about his teammates, he’s just trying to look good.
“And sometimes fans look at that and go, ‘oh look at him, he’s showing aggression, he’s trying to win the ball’.
“No. You need to think, that’s not aggression. You’re not thinking about your team.
“You’re just letting your teammates down with performances like that.”
