West Ham United have been offered the chance to sign Barcelona defender Junior Firpo on loan, according to reports.

Interest in the Spaniard was first reported in December after left wing-back Arthur Masuaku underwent career-saving knee surgery.

With the Democratic Republic of Congo international stricken and out for several months, Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to bring in reinforcements.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli are now also interested in signing the 24-year-old on a deal until the end of the season.

Firpo, who was born in the Dominican Republic but spent the majority of his life in Spain, can play as a centre-half or as a right-back and moved to Camp Nou for £16m in August 2019.

He has started just one LaLiga game this season for Ronald Koeman, with the former Barca defender continuing to use Jordi Alba as a left-back.

It is unclear when Masuaku will return for the Hammers, but the 27-year-old had put off the knee surgery for two years in order to get his place in the West Ham team.

The Hammers have made a positive start to the season, but also need to delve back into the transfer market for a striker after Sebastien Haller’s departure to Ajax.

Stade Reims striker Boulaye Dia is a reported £15million target with Michail Antonio the only senior recognised striker in east London.
