Police Kill Leader Of Kidnap Gang In Adamawa, Rescue Six Victims From Hideout







Leader of a notorious kidnap gang was on Saturday killed by the police in Adamawa State during a raid on their hideout.


The police also rescued six victims kidnapped by the gang in Gwazari Hills in the Song Local Government Area of the state.

Firearms recovered from the hoodlums include AK-47 rifles with 17 rounds of live ammunition.


Spokesperson for the state command of the Nigeria Police, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed to SaharaReporters that some of the kidnappers fled with bullet wounds, leaving their victims unharmed.


He said, "One suspected kidnapper has been neutralized as  one AK-47 rifle with 17 rounds of live ammunitions recovered.


"This is further to the command's reinvigorated special action plan on the ongoing fight against banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes across the state.


"The command's operatives attached to Song Division, in a joint operation with Department of State Services and hunters on the 3/12/2021 extended to Gwazari Hills, Mulleng in Song Local Government Area and rescued six kidnapped victims unharmed.


"Operatives have also recovered one AK-47 rifle after a gun battle that  neutralized one of the kidnappers and  others escaped with bullet wounds."
 
Also, the command's operatives attached to Gombi Division have apprehended 32-year old Mathias Shingu, a resident of Lagos, in connection with car theft.


"Shingu, a notorious car snatcher who  specialises in smuggling stolen vehicles from Nigeria to Cameroon was apprehended while on his way to dispose a stolen Nissan vehicle stolen from a Lagos resident," Nguroje said.


Commissioner of Police in the state, Mohammed Ahmed Barde, while commending the performance of the officers, noted that joint operation was a good initiative.


He assured of massive deployment of both human and other operational assets of the command to reinforce and consolidate on keeping Adamawa safe.


"Frequent joint operations is aimed at preventing and dislodging bandits from their current operational spaces and denying them the space to regroup in other parts of the state. 


"It will also ensure that all arrested bandits and their collaborators are brought to book," Nguroje added.
