#NorthIsBleeding Protesters Arrested By Police In Kaduna Regain Freedom

Human rights’ activist, Omoyele Sowore, has confirmed the release of six #NorthIsBleeding protesters who were earlier detained by operatives of the Nigerian Police Force in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Tuesday.
Sowore, who shared the update on his Facebook page, noted that despite the release of the protesters, agitations would continue against the insecurity, corruption and bad governance in the country.

He wrote, “#NorthisBleeding arrested by lawless Nigeria Police Force are now free. The struggle will continue! #RevolutionNow #BuhariMustGo.”

Sowore had earlier on Tuesday posted that the police harassed the peaceful protesters and unlawfully arrested six of them.
He had also called on the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, to without delay, order the release of the northern protesters noting that the police continued to act in a lawless manner.
Also, SaharaReporters had on Tuesday reported that the Kaduna State chapter of human rights’ group, Take It Back Movement demanded the release of the #NorthIsBleeding protesters arrested by security agents during a peace walk in Zaria.
The group had asked the Nigerian police and other security agents to use their resources to apprehend terrorists and other criminals disturbing the peace of the country instead of hounding peaceful protesters.
The protesting youths had come out en masse in Zaria, to demand an end to insecurity in Kaduna State and the Northern region in general.
They joined their counterparts in other parts of the region to protest against incessant killings, abductions and other crimes in the North.
The youths who bore placards with various inscriptions like -“North Is Bleeding, End Insecurity Now” “We are dying, stop the killing” “End Insecurity” ”Where is President Muhammadu Buhari?”-  flooded the streets of Zaria.
Some of them were, however, said to have been arrested by the police and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
