Ondo police arrest suspected arm robber following a tip off

Police in Ondo state today arrested a suspected armed robber following a tip -off that an operation was on at the Energy filling station, Pele in Ondo town.

Sources said a patrol team from Fagun division was immediately mobilized to the scene of the crime, leading to the arrest of one of the robbers identified as Ernest Otulor, a native of Oneke in Ebonyi state who was caught with a Russian made single barrel.

It was learnt that his arrest paved way for the apprehension of one Jeremiah Akpan who served as their informant.

He was said to be the one that tricked and sent the security attached to the filling station on an errand for the robbers to have a free day.

A catridge used for the operation was equally found in his house when it was searched, while three of the four-man gang reportedly escaped with the sum of N250,000 and two handsets.


Besides, a Police Constable, Omoniyi Edema attached to Bolorunduro police station near Ogbese Division was reportedly attacked on his way to the office by suspected hoodlums.

They were said to have hidden in an uncompleted building along Bolorunduro road and shot the police man on the head with several matchete cuts.

Edema’s motorcycle was taken away,while his corpse has been deposited in Akure specialist hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Police sources confirmed that three suspects, Ameh John, Aboh Michael and Olowolagba Toyin who received the deceased motorcycle have been arrested and confessed to the crime.
