26-year-old man detained for allergly raping 5-year-old girl

A 26-year-old man is now being detained by the police in Ekiti for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl.

The suspect, said to be a staff of a bakery was arrested on August 28, after committing the offence.

The state police public relations officer, ASP Victor Babayemi, told newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, yesterday, that Ayo (other names withheld) lured the girl who happened to be the daughter his father’s tenant with bread.

Babayemi said the man confessed to have had carnal knowledge of the girl in his room after successfully enticing her with bread on the said date, adding that the state police command has taken the case to court after he confessed to the offence.

Meanwhile, a 57-year-old man, David (surname withheld) who allegedly defiled his 5-year-old step-daughter in Igede-Ekiti recently, has also been arraigned by the police in Igede-Ekiti, in Irepodun/Ifelodun local government, Ekiti State.
