APC vs PDP, APC will chase PDP out of all levels in 2015

CHIEFTAINS of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have, on Saturday in Kaduna, reiterated their resolve to form government at state and national levels come 2015.

The chieftains who met at a function organised by the Movement for a Better Future, included Malam Nasir El-Rufai, Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali, Hajiya Hafsat Baba, General Jafaru Isa(rtd) among others.

Former governor of Kano State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau said his assessment of the state of the nation at the moment was that it was “very unfortunate.”

According to him, “the constitution of the country lists the issue of security of lives and property as the number one priority of government. Therefore, any government that has failed to provide security of lives and property is below average and in fact, is a failure. So, my assessment is that the government is a total failure. It is not about projects as I have said, but about the wellbeing and safety of the people.”

Commenting on the threat of Vice President Namadi Sambo who hails from the Northwest zone, he said “we have come a very long way. It is not about where you come from or what office you occupy. Of course, it is common knowledge that the Vice President belongs to the wrong group. That he is from the Northwest does not give us any threat. In fact as far as the Northwest is concerned, it is a walk over for the APC. Go and check the records.

El-Rufai who spoke on behalf of Chief Bisi Akande, interim national chairman of the APC, said the national executive of the party had issued guidelines for the setting up of harmonisation committees in the various states.

APC is not important in the scheme of things in Nigeria - PDP Sec ~ Metuh
« Reply #1 on: September 09, 2013, 06:36:18 PM »
FROM the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has come a declaration that despite the series of crises in its fold, it has no opposition to its widespread popularity and influence in the country.

The party said it does not even take into account the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) formed by several political parties.

Meanwhile, Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade (rtd), has expressed optimism that the crises rocking the PDP at the national level will soon be over and make it stronger to win future elections in the country.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, told newsmen in Lagos at the weekend that “The present crisis rocking the PDP has shown clearly that we do not have a credible opposition party in the country. There’s no viable opposition in Nigeria’s politics.

Definitely, we have issues and a few challenges. The issues have been PDP and about PDP, so long as we are able to resolve our differences and still fight our interest on a common front.”

He said whatever opposition is minimal and insignificant, and ineffective whatsoever. “They have no effect on the political setting at the national level except in some local government areas and states,” Metuh said.

On whether the APC could have a hand in the crises in the PDP, Metuh said the opposition party is not important in the scheme of things in Nigeria and the crises in the PDP.
