« on: September 08, 2013, 12:48:01 PM »

Baring any last minute change of plans, the maiden edition  of the West Africa Youths Conference will from be held from Monday 21st to Friday 25th October,  Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital.

The event which is expected to attract participants from the 16 West African Countries, will be chaired by  Côte d’Ivoire President, His Excellency Alassane Ouattara, with the aim of building global leaders who will positively change the scheme of things in their respective countries.

“We have perfected plans to host a very fruitful convention. Our goals are simple. We are trying to create a platform where African Youths can brainstorm and profer solution to the myriads of challenges confronting individual Nations and the entire continent collectively”, Comrade Uyero Erarawewho Junior; the conference organising chief, told Reporters.

“The Conference is an emanation of the Africa Youth Conference held in Maputo, Mozambique in December 10th – 14th, 2012 which sort to implement the Africa Youth Charter and the Africa Charter on Democracy, Elections and Good Governance determined to foster the democratization of Africa and West Africa”, he added.

On the procedure for choosing participants for the event, the coordinator explained that advertorials were placed on both print and electronic media in the participating countries and that interested participants were asked to supply some relevant information about themselves to the conference’s board via email which were scrutinised and approved by the Conference’s panel of judges.

“We have to cut down on the number of participants from individual countries due to the high cost of maintaining them. As may have learnt from the Press statements we forwarded to newsmen, the organisers are taking care of the feeding accommodation and transportation of all the participants. So, what we did was to give conditions which they must fufill, with their datas forwarded to our email. Then, our judges worked on them and contacted the successful ones via email, Uyero said, stressing that “participants expected for the conference will be young professionals between the ages of 18–35 who have shown prospective leadership potentials in their chosen professions.” http://www.oceanwaveng.com/nigeria-to-host-first-west-africa-youth-conference/
