Nigerian basketball team win first Olympic match!
« on: July 29, 2012, 04:00:56 PM »

Few minutes ago, Team Nigeria’s basketball team at the 2012 London Game Olympics, D’Tigers made history as the first Nigerian basketball team to win a match at the on-going games.
What makes it better is that they did so in their first ever match!
D’Tigers won their first match in Group A by beating their Tunisian counterparts in 60-56 in what was described as a very competitive game played at the Olympic stadium.
By winning this match, D’Tigers need only one more game to win for them to scale through to the next round.
Before the game, Sani Ahmed, coach of the team, said even though the Tunisians beat Nigeria on their way to winning the Afrobasket and picking the sole African slot in Madagascar, ‘today’s encounter will be different’ as the boys want to make history and prove that their qualification was no fluke.
