Man 23, arraigned for allegedy stealing N86 million

The police on Tuesday, arraigned a 23- year- old warehouse attendant, Sunday Oladeji, before Magistrate Akinde of a Lagos Magistrates Court sitting in Ikeja, over allegation of stealing N86 million belonging to Midcom Logistics Company.


Oladeji, a resident of 16, Kareem Street, Olowora, in Omole Phase 2 area of Lagos, was arraigned on a three - count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing, preferred against him by the police.


The police prosecutor, Sergeant Chinalu Uwadione, alleged that Oladeji and others at large, committed the alleged offence on July 21, 2013, at about 8.00am, at Midcom Logistics Company, in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.


Uwadione, told the court that the defendant conspired with others at large to break into the warehouse and stole various Mobile phones, worth N86million, belonging to the company.


The offence committed, according to the prosecutor, is punishable under Sections 409, 307 and 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state of Nigeria 2011.


However, when the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty to the three count charges against him.


Magistrate Akinde granted him bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter till October 22, for mention.


Meanwhile the defendant was remanded in prison custody, pending when he is able to perfect his bail conditions.
