Dead grass and dried-up rivers: drought across the UK – in pictures

Prolonged dry conditions, with some areas not receiving significant rainfall all summer, have caused the National Drought Group to declare an official drought across eight areas of England. A four-day amber warning for extreme heat is in place for much of England and Wales until Sunday
