The police on Tuesday arraigned a housewife, Dora Makus, of Area E, Nyanya, Abuja, before an Upper Area Court in Karu, for allegedly biting a woman.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the police prosecutor, Inspector Silas Nanpan, told the court that Sani Adijat reported the matter at the Nyanya Police Station on September 21.

He told the court that the accused person assaulted Adijat when she was trying to intervene in the brawl between Makus and the complainant’s (Adijat’s) son.

He said, “When Adijat came to separate the accused person and the said boy, the woman bit her on her left breast.

“She inflicted a serious injury on Adijat, who was immediately taken to Nyanya General Hospital, where she received treatment.”

Nanpan added that the complainant was still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

He said the accused person was being charged with assault, adding that her offence contravened Section 244 of the Penal Code.

However, the accused person pleaded not guilty.

The presiding judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted her bail in the sum of N20,000, with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case to November 18 for hearing.
