Man Rape, Beat and Later Kill Woman Because She is his ex look alike

A man, identified as Marvin Samuels attacked and raped a 43-year-old woman as she walked her dog around Welsh Harp reservoir in Brent, because she looked like his ex-girlfriend and went on to kill her, hours later.

According to report, the heavily-built, tattooed 31-year-old man dragged her into the undergrowth, before ordering her to strip naked and raping her. He then allegedly tried to strangle her with her scarf, before repeatedly beating her over the head with a bottle and tree branch and leaving her for dead.

She was found naked and badly beaten the next day, by her husband and his friends.

Having left the dog-walker for dead, he was said to have stabbed to death 32-year-old Sharlana Diedrick, his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, a few hours later.

It was gathered that before her death, they had argued over their son's childcare arrangements before he launched the frenzied stabbing attack.

Samuels surrendered to police in the early hours of the following morning and told detectives he was responsible for the assault on Miss Diedrick and also admitted raping the lone dog walker, and causing her grievous bodily harm, after forensics linked him to the assault. He however denied murdering both women.

Describing the stabbing to the police, Samuels said, "I was feeling unusual. I was different that day, I wasn't in my right mind. I was awful crazy".

Duncan Atkinson, the prosecuting officer told the jury that they had to decide what Samuels' mental state was at the time of both attacks.
