Strike Suspend - NIPOST Workers
« on: October 03, 2013, 10:07:43 PM »
The National Union of Post and Telecommunications Employees (NUPTE) has suspended its three-day warning strike.

The suspension follows the intervention of the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu.

The striking workers, however, gave the government a two-week window to work out modalities to meet its demands.

The workers had gone on strike seeking the implementation of the “payment of rent enhancement to staff and transfer allowance as well as the payment of the 2006 productivity incentive to all staff.”

But in a communique signed by NUPTE president Comrade Sunday Alhasan and post master-general, NIPOST Ibrahim Mori Baba, after a meeting with the labour minister, the union resolved to call off its strike

In attendance at the meeting were Minister of Labour & Productivity, Emeka Wogu, leadership of NUPTE, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communication Technology and the Post Master General of NIPOST
