KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- Three Nigerian nationals were sentenced to death by the High Court here today after they were found guilty of trafficking in more than 1kg of methampetamine two years ago.

Judge Kamardin Hashim handed down the sentence on Chigozie Patrick Umeohudo, 26, Nnaemeka Nwafor, 25, and Chibuike Collins Nnebedum, 24, after finding that their defence were merely a denial, fictitious and could not be trusted.

"The court is satisfied and find that the defence has failed to raise reasonable doubts at the end of the defence case.

"Therefore, the three accused are found guilty and sentenced to death," he added.

The three Nigerians, who were students at a private college in the country, were charged with trafficking in 1,008.3gm of the drug at Jalan 4/40, Taman Sri Segambut, Sentul here at 5.30pm on June 10, 2011.

The drug was found in a plastic bag which was kept in a biscuit tin.

Deputy public prosecutor Jean Sharmila Jesudason prosecuted, while Chigozie and Chibuike were represented by lawyer Rajpal Singh, while Nnaemeka by lawyer Saranjeet Kaur Sidhu. http://www.bernama.com.my/bernama/v7/ge/newsgeneral.php?id=983045
