UPDATES: Doctors Strike Continues
« on: October 08, 2013, 08:55:50 PM »
As the ongoing strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) continues, the minister of health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu, yesterday described the industrial action as unacceptable. But the development has dashed the hopes of alleged reconciliation between the federal government and the NARD over the weekend.

The labour ministry had last Friday called a meeting to arbitrate between the NARD and the health ministry to consider a suspension of the strike, which is entering the fifth day.

Speaking to journalists yesterday in Abuja at a retreat for tertiary health institutions, Onyebuchi said that” the NARD’s industrial action was “uncalled for because the issues at stake are issues already being handled after the ministry met with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA)”.
