PDP Young Democrats demand Anyanwu’s immediate resignation as National Secretary

The PDP Young Democrats have called for the immediate resignation of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the Imo State gubernatorial election, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, from his position as the party’s National Secretary. The group, a movement within the PDP, with about 134 members drawn from the 36 states of the nation, made the call on Friday during a press conference in Abuja. One of the members, Alaibi Nnana Joseph, who read the press statement, said Anyanwu’s resignation would save the party from litigations in the future.Alaibi described  Anyanwu’s stay in the office as “repugnant to justice and fair play”, hoping that the lawmaker would resign very soon to face his task in Imo.He said, “One of the issues in the recent time is the continuous stay in office of Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu as the PDP National Secretary despite his ambition of contesting the Imo State Governorship election.“We would like to reiterate that the PDP Young Democrats strongly support the call for the immediate resignation of Anyanwu as the PDP National Secretary.“We strongly believe that this is the right thing to do as his continued stay in office is wrong and repugnant to justice and fair play.“This will also save the party from needless and avoidable litigations in the future. We hope this will be done in the coming days”.It was reported that Anyanwu emerged at the PDP primary election held at the party’s secretariat along the Okigwe Road in Owerri, Imo, on Wednesday.
