Tompolo urges Nigerian leaders to do what is right

Former militant leader, High Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, today waxed spiritual by calling on Nigerians, especially politicians, traditional rulers and the clergy to do the right thing at all times.Tompolo made the call while interacting with newsmen during the grand finale of the 2023 Amaseikumor annual festival held in Oporoza community in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State. He said: “My message to everybody and Nigerians [is] everybody should do the right thing. Be you a politician, traditional ruler, or pastor, everybody should stand by the truth.”Tompolo who joined his kinsmen in the celebration of the 2023 Amaseikumor annual Festival said the festival brings peace and development to the Ijaw nation at large.Upon his arrival at the festival, he greeted the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II, who was flanked by other kings from the Niger Delta region, before he proceeded to decorate masquerades with naira notes. At this year’s festival, the monarch of the Gbaramatu Kingdom conferred chieftaincy titles on nine personalities. Notably among others was the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Michael Johnny, who was conferred the “Agadiwei” title. In his acceptance speech, Chief Michael Johnny, who spoke on behalf of the new chiefs, promised that they will use their titles to attract more development to Gbaramatu Kingdom.Earlier, the Fiowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Chief Godspower Gbenekama during his admonition reminded the new chiefs: “You don’t use our traditional title to woo women. It’s an abomination if you do that. Don’t come and flaunt your riches here. Don’t use your title in the market places. If you do, the King will deal decisively with you. No title is hereditary.”The 2023 Amaseikumor festival featured a traditional wrestling competition and football match in which Esaba community defeated Oporoza community by a lone goal.
