TRENDING: Nigerian influencers hail Elon Musk after receiving payment from X

 Social media giant, X (formerly known as Twitter), has begun
its monthly advert revenue payment scheme for verified content creators.

 

The revenue disbursement commenced in
the early hours of Tuesday.

 

The development comes six months after Elon Musk, the owner
of X, said revenue made from adverts will be shared only with creators whose
posts receive adverts in their reply threads.

 

Musk had said only the content creators who are subscribers
to Twitter Blue will benefit from the scheme.

 

Twitter Blue represents account holders who pay an $8
monthly subscription.

 

On Tuesday, it was observed that the hashtag ‘Twitter
Blue’ trended at the top spot on X with over 489,000 posts, documenting
receipts of the beneficiaries of the cash payout.

making attempts to pay for the blue verified checkmark.

 

While this initiative becomes another revenue-generating
opportunity for the content creation ecosystem; it is believed that it is also
a strategy for Musk to make more money as users would want to subscribe to
Twitter Blue to be eligible for the next round of payment.

THE REVENUE

 

To be eligible for the new monetisation program on X, users
are first required to subscribe to Twitter Blue for $8.

 

After which, such users must amass more than 5 million tweet
impressions monthly for the preceding three months.

 

Musk had confirmed that the first round of payouts,
totalling $5 million and cumulative from February onwards, would be processed
through Stripe.

 

He encouraged users to pursue the coveted blue verification
tick, adding that verified users could potentially earn substantial monthly
sums, potentially amounting to thousands of dollars.
