2 Okada Riders Killed As Robbers Strike In Edo
« on: December 13, 2013, 08:21:57 AM »
A suspected robbery attack along the Igarra-Ibillo-Akure Road, a border-area between Ondo and Edo states, has claimed the lives of two commercial motor-cyclists, popularly called ‘okada’, and two of their passengers were seriously injured, as they tried to escape from the scene of the robbery.

One of the dead bikers, who was identified as Ojo Aiyele, was said to be from Ugboshi-ele Community, while the other who was said to be from Ekpesa Community reportedly  collided while fleeing in opposite directions, near the scene of the robbery and died instantly.

The injured were reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment by members of a joint patrol team made up of police and military officers, who were said to have responded promptly to distress calls by eye-witnesses.

As at the time of this report, the Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Eguavoen (DSP), could not be reached, but a senior police offer told The Guardian that the command was yet to be briefed about the visit of the robbers or the accident.
