Supersand Eagles yesterday defeated Senegal 5-2 to win the 2013 Copa Lagos Beach Soccer Championships in Eko Atlantic.
The final which was watched by a packed crowd including former FIFA Executive Committee who was also the DG of the National Sports Commission, Dr Amos Adamu saw the Nigerian who won last year’s tournament scoring the first goal through Captain Isiaka Olawale in the opening minute of the first period.
But the Senegalese responded in a quickfire manner through their captain Ndiaye Diame to silence the partisan home crowd.
On resumption of the second period the Nigerian team showed their class as they scored 3 goals in 5 minutes to send their teeming supporters into a wild frenzy.
Senegal pulled one back to make the score 4-2. But the Nigerians restored their two-goal advantage through the most valuable player, Abu.
