‘I feel like I love everyone here’: Notting Hill carnival continues to defy division – photo essay

Notting Hill carnival epitomises the success of Britain’s multiculturalism, especially in light of recent race tensions. Through portraits, interviews and scenes from Europe’s largest street festival, the photographer Ollie Tikare showcases how the event unites diverse communities and embodies the resilience of multicultural Britain

Notting Hill carnival returned this weekend, as raucous, joyous and vibrant as ever, an embodiment of multicultural Britain at its finest. This was my 12th time attending but my first as a journalist, and while part of me longed to spend the day dancing with friends, I knew I had to explore the corners of the carnival I often neglect.
