AC Milan legend Clarence Seedorf has announced his retirement from football and that he will be the new Rossoneri manager.

Former Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri was relieved of his duties earlier this week after a dismal run of form, which sees the Italian giants down in 11th place in the standings, a full 30 points behind Serie A leaders Juventus.

And Seedorf has now been handed the tough task of getting the 18-time Serie A winners back into contention for, at least, the Champions League places.

Talking at a press conference in Rio, where the 37-year-old had been playing for Botafogo, Seedorf said: "It has been a difficult decision, but I am satisfied with what I have achieved in my career.
