Mezzeh prison after the fall of Assad – in pictures

About 700 political prisoners held in the prison inside the Mezzeh airbase were released after the fall of the Assad regime. The now-empty cells, cramped, peeling and covered in etchings, are a stark testament to the conditions suffered by former inmates
