I’m not bothered by baseless and idle talks, says Uba Sani

Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, says his priority is to serve
the people of the state and not get drawn into “baseless and idle talks that
add no value” to his government.

The governor’s remarks come days after Nasir el-Rufai,
former governor of the state, accused him of arresting his loyalist, Jafaru
Sani, ex-education commissioner in the state.

Sani, who spoke on Saturday after the Iftar dinner with
social media influencers, at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, said his
administration has enhanced the agricultural and education sectors in Kaduna.

The governor noted that his government has also made
significant strides in addressing security challenges in Birnin Gwari and Giwa
LGAs, adding that the cattle market closed for over 10 years due to insecurity,
was reopened in November 2024 and is thriving.

“My preoccupation is to serve the people of Kaduna State,
who elected me. I am not bothered by baseless and idle talks, which will add no
value to governance,” Sani said.

“We have made significant strides in addressing security
challenges in Birnin Gwari and Giwa local governments.

“The Birnin Gwari cattle market, which had been closed for
over 10 years due to security issues, was reopened last November, and business
is now thriving.”

He assured the state of availability of pipe borne water in
all 23 LGAs by the end of the year, noting that his administration has cleared
the salary backlog of staff of the water corporation.

Sani, who pledged his support for social media influencers,
commended them for spotlighting the activities of the state government.

“We have addressed the long-standing issue of water scarcity
in the state by declaring a state of emergency in the water sector upon taking
office,” he added.

“We have settled electricity debts worth N1.3 billion. We
are also retrofitting all small water supply schemes in all the 23 local
governments.”

Adam Garba, chairman of Kaduna social media influencers,
thanked the governor for hosting them for Iftar, noting that the act was
unprecedented in the state.

Garba urged the governor to provide employment for some of
their members who have requisite qualifications.
