Governor Sule Orders Profiling of New Residents to Combat Rising Insecurity

Governor Abdullahi Sule has mandated traditional rulers, village heads, and community leaders to profile all new residents in their domains to tackle the escalating cases of killings and kidnappings across the state. The directive was announced on Thursday by Comrade Peter Ahemba, the governor’s Special Adviser on Public Affairs, during a press briefing in Lafia addressing recent security challenges. The move follows attacks that displaced residents in Keana, Kadarko, and other communities, prompting an urgent security meeting.Ahemba revealed that Governor Sule has ordered security forces to ramp up surveillance, raid criminal hideouts, and take decisive action against offenders. Additionally, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, alongside traditional leaders, has been tasked with identifying unfamiliar individuals in communities to root out potential criminals. To bolster these efforts, the state plans to leverage technology to combat insecurity. Ahemba warned that anyone caught shielding or bailing arrested suspects will face severe consequences.Governor Sule also urged residents to assist security agencies by reporting suspicious activities promptly. Addressing concerns about insecurity around the Lafia flyover and underpass, Ahemba noted that personnel from the Nasarawa Youths Empowerment Agency (NAYEA) have been deployed to secure the area.In a separate appeal, the governor cautioned politicians against premature campaigning for the 2027 elections, warning that such actions violate electoral laws and could heighten tensions in the state.
