The missing Malaysia Airlines jet came down in the Indian Ocean, Prime Minister Najib Razak said Monday, as the airline reportedly told relatives it had been lost and that none on board survived.

“It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that I must inform you that, according to this new data, flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean,” Najib told a press conference, citing new satellite information.

“Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets that we have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board survived,” Malaysia Airlines told relatives of the 239 people on board a missing passenger jet.
